We know that in planting and harvesting, the success of a fruitful season will depend on weather condition, perseverance, timing, knowledge and hard work. While many of these fundamentals will hold true in the future, it is clear that the world’s existing agricultural infrastructure is ill-equipped to satisfy increasing global demand for food. Another 2 to 3 billion people to feed, rising incomes and changing diets will all influence the supply and demand equation. Where do we go from here? We have a chance to shape and define the trajectory along which global agriculture develops by investing in new techniques, new technologies and new ways of addressing one of the most fundamental needs on the planet. We will make our mark. We will make a difference and make a profit at the same time.
